Scuffles at Jerusalem protest

Palestinian demonstrators have hurled stones at Jewish settlers rallying for the demolition of Arab houses in occupied East Jerusalem. The clashes took place on Sunday as George Mitchell, the US special envoy to the Middle East, was visiting Israeli officials in Tel Aviv for talks on restarting the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis. Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, reportedly tried but failed to ban the settlers' march. Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland reports from East Jerusalem. [April 25, 2010] |

These defiant words came from Binyamin Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister, as he addressed a conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac) in Washington DC on Monday.
